We had a fantastic year at SupplySide Food & Beverage Journal, hosting tons of webinars and posting even more articles that were among the most popular and relevant content we’ve ever delivered. So, we’re taking this opportunity to look back on 2024 and figure out what made it all work. I’ll break down our top articles, webinars, digital magazines and product development guides, and you can peruse the year’s top content at your leisure.

Top 5 articles

  1. Experts advise on how to avoid avocado oil fraud (7,800+ views): Whoa! Look at those page views. I’m not jealous, I swear. Our top article of the year, written by our esteemed contributing writer Cindy Hazen, revealed that nearly 70% of private label avocado oils are mixed with other oils … or rancid. Yikes.

  2. Business Bites: Lindt chocolate faces lawsuit over elevated lead levels (6,400+ views): Here’s one by yours truly. This edition of the weekly Business Bites column highlighted how most dark chocolate is contaminated with lead, but only Lindt is getting sued for it.

  3. Keys to food, beverage product success for Gen Z (5,500+ views): This wonderful feature by Rachel French illustrates all the ways in which Gen Z is reshaping the food and beverage landscape, with insights from The Hartman Group. Now if we could just convince those whippersnappers to cut their hair.

  4. Sunflower lecithin meets growing demand for clean-label ingredients (4,300+ views): Wow. An article from 2021. This just proves that we create lasting, forward-looking content at SupplySide Food & Beverage Journal! This piece was by contributing writer Mike Efting.

  5. Caffeine derivative paraxanthine promises energy without the side effects (4,200+ views): Sweet, I almost beat the three-year-old article. Another story by me, this one showcases the ingredient paraxanthine, a metabolite of caffeine that offers all the benefits without the jitters.

  2. Got milk: The great dairy vs. alt-dairy showdown: In this webinar, I talk with three experts on the dairy and alt-dairy categories about the growing (or is it shrinking?) divide between animal-derived originals and plant-based alternatives.

  3. Zero proof, full flavor: Navigating the future of nonalcoholic beverages: As my very first webinar, this one holds a special place in my heart. It explores the nonalcoholic beverage category — where it’s going, where it’s been, and what exactly makes these beverages so appealing and fun, even without the alcohol.
