This year was certainly a whirlwind. From cranking out educational content on the website and in the digital magazines to attending some of the hottest industry events, the team at SupplySide Food & Beverage Journal was busy at work.

Some of the top events the team attended this year included the Winter Fancy Food Show, Natural Products Expo West, Black Women in Food Summit, Organic Week, Food ingredients (Fi) Europe, Newtopia Now, National Restaurant Association Show and SupplySide West.

As we wrap up the year, SupplySide Food & Beverage Journal Content Director Audarshia Townsend chatted with Scott Dicker, senior director of market insights at SPINS, about the top trends of 2024 and what to expect in the upcoming year.

“We saw a big influx of products around health span — a lot of nutrient-dense and functional foods and beverages really crossing over with consumers thinking about how they’re going to live better longer,” he said. “A lot of expanded hydration products, active nutrition, functional in a variety of ways. This is the biggest trend moving forward.”

Dicker said he expects to see self-centric, health-focused products for 2025 “go to the next level and be more personalized.”
